The Village of Mukwonago encourages citizens to take an active interest in their community. Commissions and committees advise the Village Board on policy issues before the Board makes final decisions. Other Boards make final decisions that affect the community and fellow citizens. Commissioners and appointed board and committee members are a critical part of local government. Everybody talks about government, but you can do something about it by serving on a commission or advisory committee.
The following commissions, committees and boards are comprised in full or in part of Village Board-appointed citizen members:

If you are interested in becoming a member of any board, committee or commission, or if you know someone that might be interested, please contact the Village Clerk's Office or send a letter or e-mail to express your interest. Vacancies The Village of Mukwonago is seeking applicants to fill vacant positions on the Economic Development Committee and Historic Preservation Commission.
The Plan Commission is an advisory body that reviews all commercial and residential development plans and recommends to the Village Board any action to be taken on the issues. The Commission also reviews and approves any plans that were reviewed by the Historic Preservation Commission. Changes to the Zoning Code and the Master Plan must also be reviewed by the Commission. The Commission membership consists of the Village President, who is chairperson, two Village Trustees, who are the chairpersons from the Public Works and Health and Recreation Committees, three citizen members and the Supervisor of Inspections. The Village Planner and Attorney are advisory members. BOARD OF BUILDING AND ZONING APPEALS The Board of Building and Zoning Appeals reviews and makes final decisions on variances to the zoning ordinance and conditional use, unspecified use and home occupation permits. If you need a variance or conditional use, unspecified use or home occupation permit, please contact the Joe Hankovich, Supervisor of Inspections, at (262) 363-6419, to discuss the proposal. Historic Preservation Commission The Historic Preservation Commission serves property owners by safeguarding the charm and character of the Village and enhances our architectural history. The Commission meets with property owners in the Design Sensitivity Areas to discuss, review and make recommendations to any exterior alterations, restorations, improvements, fencing, roofing, siding, gutters windows, trim, painting, etc. The Commission recommends approval to the Plan Commission. The Commission membership consists of a Village trustee, a historian, a realtor, and architect and three citizens. If you wish to change anything on the exterior of your home or business, please contact the Joe Hankovich, Supervisor of Inspections, at (262) 363-6419, to discuss the proposal. Economic Development Committee The Economic Development Committee (EDC) is a citizen advisory committee whose purpose shall be to advise the Village Board on matters of economic development, implementing economic development activities that will assist in improving economic conditions in the Village and developing and maintaining the Village industrial park. The EDC reviews and makes final decisions on any renovation, additions, etc. to all buildings in the industrial parks. The Committee membership consists of the Village President, a Plan Commission member, three citizens whose principal occupations shall be business owners or managers of businesses in the Village with known interest in local economic development and two citizens. The Commission membership consists of a Village trustee, the Town of Mukwonago Chairperson. The rest of the membership consists of Village and Town citizen appointments. On even numbered years, the Town has three appointments and the Village has two. On the odd numbered years, the Village has three appointments and the Town has two.
Meeting Dates, Time and Place The Joint Fire Commission meets upon request or if there is an issue that needs to be discussed. Dates and times vary. The Commission meets in the Conference Room #1 at Mukwonago Fire Station #1 located at 1111 Fox St.

The Commission membership consists of five citizens.

The Storm Water Committee will create and implement a comprehensive storm water management program to help protect and improve the water quality in the Mukwonago River and Middle Fox River/Illinois watersheds, of which the Village is a part.

Meeting Dates, Time and Place The Library Board meets the fourth Monday of every month at 7:00 pm. The Board meets at the Mukwonago Community Library located at 300 Washington Ave.
