The Village of Mukwonago is a fast growing community. Many new subdivisions are being constructed, enhancing the demographic of the Village and paving the way for new commercial construction. The new Gateway District (Tax Incremental District #3 (TID #3)) was created for large commercial companies as well as a future Industrial Park and some residential properties. The Village is growing on the North side with residential and commercial properties being proposed, on the West and East sides with residential properties and on the South side with the Gateway District.
Below is a list of current major Residential (i.e. Subdivisions, Condo Projects), Commercial and Industrial Developments that have either been submitted for proposal to the Village, are in the process of being reviewed or approved by the Village or are now in the development stage. Also included are some Village projects that have been proposed, discussed, reviewed and/or approved by the Village and the status of each.
This page does not include conceptual plans submitted to the Village because plans change often. Instead, this page ONLY includes plans that have been formally submitted for full review and approval.

Miniwaukan Park Canoe Launch About the Project - Design elements include a small parking lot and a walking trail, both constructed of compacted crushed stone screenings, and a raised boardwalk over a wetland area. The Mukwonago River is commonly known as one of the most pristine waterways in southeastern Wisconsin, and the section of the river that runs through the park is highly desirable for canoeists because of the clear cool water and the natural scenery. There are currently several informal canoe launch sites in the vicinity of the project area, and each one exhibits signs of disturbance that negatively impact the resource, such as trampled wetland vegetation, bank erosion, and displaced riverbed material. The Village’s main goal for the project is to eliminate the informal launches by creating one functional and easily accessible launch site at a location and in a manner that will minimize the impact to the sensitive natural resources in and around the river. These resources include unique native plants in the wetland area, a small grove of majestic oak trees, and several species of threatened and endangered mussels that inhabit this section of the river. The end result of the project will be increased protection for the river and enhanced access to the recreational benefits of the area. To help minimize the impact of the planned improvements, a limestone alternative for the construction of the walking trail surface and base courses is being used. This design modification will eliminate the potential for highly alkaline dissolved limestone to leach into the river, thereby protecting the pH of the water from even minor changes that could negatively affect the sensitive aquatic plants and animals that live there.
