Reminders

 

Do Not Place Rummage Sale and Other Signs in Right-of-Ways

No sign other than those expressly exempted under Sec. 100-517 shall be erected, placed, located or maintained within the limits of any street or highway. Street or highway limits include all the dedicated rights-of-way, encompassing the traveled portion of the highway, the shoulders, ditches and adjacent dedicated areas. This prohibition applies to freestanding signs and those placed on trees, utility poles, fence post stakes and all other structures within the highway limits.

 

Any sign in violation of this section may be removed by the village or its agent without notice or compensation Sec. 100-514

 

 

The Inspection/Zoning Administration Office reviews and implements Building, Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC permits and provides inspections of construction within the Village.  The office also provides plan reviews for commercial and residential developments.

If you need a Building Permit, you may stop in the Village Clerk's Office, located in the Village Hall, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, to obtain the permit form.  For building codes and regulations as well as fees, you must speak to the Inspection Department, (262) 363-6419.  Office hours are 8:00 am to 9:30 pm, Monday through Friday.  In addition, Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC permits may also be obtained at the Clerk's Office.

 

 

ELECTRICAL LICENSES                                                                                             

 

All electrical work must be done by an electrician who is licensed by the Village of Mukwonago.  To obtain a license, you must send the following to the Village Clerk's Office:

  • $60 Electrical License Fee ($45 to renew)

  • A copy of your Wisconsin Department of Commerce Certification

  • Certificate of Liability Insurance

  • A self-addressed stamped envelope

 

PERMIT FEES FOR NEW RESIDENTIAL HOMES                                                  

 

Are you looking to build a home in Mukwonago and were wondering how much the building permit might cost you?  Listed below is the sample of the fees for the year 2008 for a dwelling 2,000 sq. ft. with a 600 sq. ft. garage.  Decks, covered porches and fireplaces are an additional $50.00 each.
